The RB5009 router has 9 wired ports and a full size USB 3.0. Seven of the ports are Gigabit Ethernet, another is 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, and the last is a 10G SFP + cage. All ports are connected to a high-performance switch chip from the Marvell Amethyst family with a 10 Gbit / s full duplex line that leads to the Marvell Armada quad-core ARMv8 1.4 GHz CPU. Both the CPU and the switch chip are located on the underside of the board – so the housing acts as a massive heat sink!

The boards are equipped with 1 GB DDR4 RAM and 1 GB NAND memory. This combination of ports and components provides almost twice the performance in high-CPU configurations when compared to other MikroTik products in a similar form factor.
